Celebrate the Individual (CTI) is an innovative program for young adults with developmental and neurological disabilities, autism, and other special needs. CTI includes a day program and will include a residential program, both of which are based on the most cutting-edge DIR/FCD (Developmental, Individual differences, Relationship-based/Foundational Capacities of Development) therapeutic model, originally developed by renowned experts on neurodevelopment, Dr. Stanley Greenspan, MD, and Dr. Serena Wieder, PhD, at the NIMH (National Institutes of Mental Health at the NIH).
The need has never been greater for quality programs and residential facilities for young adults with autism or other intellectual/developmental disability (ID/DD) individuals. Over the next decade, the CDC estimates that 500,000 teenagers with Autism Spectrum Disorder will age out of their school-based services and move into adulthood. As adults, the need and desire for person-centered housing opportunities is growing exponentially. An estimated 80,000 individuals sit on waiting lists that can be as long as 15 years. The number of individuals on waiting lists is expected to grow as the prevalence of Autism is predicted to increase by 15% over the next ten years. The discrepancy between availability and need is an ever-expanding chasm, and CTI will help bridge that gap.
Our mission is to provide these adults with the necessary supports to help them live meaningful self-directed lives as independently as possible, toward full community integration throughout their lifespan.
CTI’s board of trustees is made up of parents whose children are approaching the transition into adulthood, or who are the parents of adults currently receiving services offered by the state. Unlike state services, or any currently offered services for those aged 21 and over in NJ, our groundbreaking program will use the DIR-FCD approach to provide meaningful educational, vocational, and social opportunities to these individuals who are currently underserved, as well as the opportunity to live as independently as possible in the community of Denville.
